为什么大家又要佩戴罂粟花呢?

Rememberance Day 的纪念仪式是从每年的11月11日开始。在那时,加拿大许多民众会聚在国家战争纪念碑前,而不同省份的纪念仪式将会在不同地点同时进行。为在战争中逝去的英灵们默哀,为他们献上深深的敬意。绵绵的细雨如期而至,仿佛天空对战争的哭诉,也唤起了对战死疆场的英灵的追忆。

战争带来的不仅仅是伤痛,更有我们对和平的向往以及对历史的沉思。这一天达英国际学院全体默哀2分钟,并为这个纪念日举行纪念仪式。

每年双十一,达英国际学院的师生会提前进行准备。胸前佩戴的花全校师生都可以拿取佩戴,并自由捐献。最后校方会全数交给加拿大皇家军人协会,帮助阵亡士兵的家属和伤残战士。

学生会有组织的通过广播简述纪念日的由来、历史和发展至今的形式。也有学生准备了具有代表性的诗歌和书籍片段,讲述一个个英勇烈士的事迹,让我们深思自由与和平的来之不易。

国殇纪念日为什么定在11月11日这天?

国殇纪念日(Remembrance Day)订立于每年的11月11日,为纪念在第一次世界大战、第二次世界大战和其他战争中牺牲的军人与平民而设立的纪念日,又译“和平纪念日”、“阵亡将士纪念日”。第一个国殇日于1919年在英联邦举行,原称“停战日”(Armistice Day)。

加拿大国会于1931年正式将每年11月11日设为“国殇日暨第一次世界大战停战纪念日”。至今更涵盖纪念所有于战争及维和行动中捐躯的加拿大将士。加拿大“国殇日”的设立,旨在加强表达对战争逝者的尊敬与追忆,而与时政无关。

佩戴红色罂粟花的由来

罂粟花 (Poppy)其繁殖力强,喜欢生长在恶劣环境的战场和墓地。第一次世界大战法国北部和比利时的 Flanders Fields 被作为撕裂欧洲心脏的重要战场,遍地长满罂粟花。

佩戴罂粟花的由来是来自一个加拿大军医John McCrae的一首诗《在佛兰德斯战场》(In Flanders Fields),而罂粟花的红色正代表了壕沟中的鲜血。后来有人佩戴白色的罂粟花,他们认为这代表和平。现在用于纪念活动的罂粟佩花多为塑料制品。各个国家的式样略有不同,另外也不是所有国家都以罂粟花纪念,比如英国是有绿叶陪衬的,法国和德国在当日是佩戴矢车菊。

这个纪念日可以让同学们能够更客观地去研究历史,也让学生能够珍惜并拥护今时今日来之不易的世界和平。我们知道加拿大的白求恩,我们更应该了解加拿大的约翰•麦克雷,他是一名加拿大的军医,在1915年,目睹了自己亲密战友的牺牲,战友的坟墓周围开出此地特有的罂粟花,麦克雷认为这是象征了死亡中的生命。就此写下了传遍整个欧洲的诗篇《在佛兰德斯战场》。

历史幻化为花,只为不被人轻易忘却

尘归尘,土归土,愿逝者安息……

活在和平年代的我们,希望可以在空闲时间,多反思历史珍惜和平。
