During an enriching two-day visit, TAIE students had the unique opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the academic and campus life at the University of Ottawa, one of Canada’s top bilingual universities. From classrooms to laboratories, libraries to student centers, this firsthand experience gave our students a fresh perspective on university life.

At the Faculty of Engineering’s smart lab, students observed innovative applications of 3D printing technology in the medical field, with many experiencing for the first time the perfect integration of technology and humanities. Professors from the Business School provided detailed insights into the renowned co-op program, demonstrating how theoretical knowledge connects with practical experience. In the Faculty of Arts’ studio, students witnessed the boundless possibilities of interdisciplinary creative works, while the mock courtroom at the Faculty of Social Sciences allowed them to engage in real-case debates.

The city of Ottawa added its own unique charm to the visit. The solemnity of Parliament Hill contrasted vividly with the vibrant energy of ByWard Market, and a leisurely stroll along the Rideau Canal helped students appreciate how seamlessly academic life blends with urban culture. These experiences not only broadened their horizons but also inspired them to consider diverse possibilities for their future development.

The most valuable takeaway from this immersive experience was the multidimensional understanding students gained through face-to-face interactions with professors, in-depth conversations with current students, and firsthand exploration of campus facilities. The warm hospitality extended by the University of Ottawa made this educational journey particularly memorable, and we extend our special thanks to the professors who prepared engaging demonstrations and the students who shared their experiences so generously.

TAIE remains committed to building bridges of understanding for our students. This visit to the University of Ottawa has helped many paint a clearer picture of their future. We believe such on-site experiences will serve as an important reference point as they make decisions about their academic and professional paths.
